- spend time on campus to familiarize yourself and to meet new people (have your student number with you just in case)
- explore the city and know where everything is (i.e. bank, post office, grocery store, drug store)
- talk with roommates about living standards, chores, etc
- get a map of the city
- learn your new address
- see what your place has already compared to what you'll need to bring (some college houses have dishes, cutlery, microwave, pots and pans, a TV, etc but there are some things they might not have, like a can opener, hand towels, etc)
- take photos of any damage in your room before you move in so you will not be blamed for it later
- bring lots of food with you, that way you don't have to worry about grocery shopping your first week
- bring your own disposable household items like dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, ziplock bags, and toiletries
- don't be afraid to ask people for help, your school is your best resource
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment. I'm here everyday. And don't get too nervous, it'll be exciting and fun if you let it.
